Dennis, Hospital Manager


Dennis is originally from the East Coast, where he completed a Master's Degree in music. He has always had an affinity for furry friends, and most recently has been the manager of two different pet care providers, one in Philadelphia and one in Chicago.

Dennis currently lives in the Edgewater neighborhood with his partner Mitchell. In his spare time he still performs extensively in the Chicago area, and he is an avid BBC America fan and loves learning about Chicago history.

Allison, Head Veterinary Technician


Allison attended the Vet Tech Institute at Fox College and graduated in December of 2011. Although, South Loop Animal Hospital is the first hospital Allison has worked at, she has always had a love and passion for animals. When not at work, you can catch Allison relaxing with her pets, studying, watching movies, discovering new music, and enjoying times with friends. She has a Rottweiler named Murdok, and 2 cats (Memphis and Bird).

Jessica, Veterinary Technician


Jessica is an industry veteran with more than 20 years experience. She holds and Associate in Science degree from South Suburban College. A native of the south suburbs, Jessica has lived in the South Loop with her husband Eric since 2008. She is the proud parent of 3 rescue animals including her dog and constant companion Finn, senior cat Squirrel and Squirrel’s arch nemesis: Gary Butters the cat. When not at work, Jessica is an avid reader and traveler, and likes to hang out at the lakefront.

Vanessa, Veterinary Technician


Vanessa is no stranger to the South Loop Animal Hospital. She worked with Drs. Manrique and Sanchez at Higgins before they opened the South Loop Animal Hospital, and worked here as relief before coming on full time. She is an avid sports enthusiast, and particularly enjoys boxing and MMA. She shares her home with Ares, the fainting German Shepherd, and two cats name Aiolos and Nyx.

Melissa, Veterinary Technician


Melissa comes to South Loop with a decade of experience working in Vet clinics. She is originally from Chicago and completed her training for Veterinary Assistant at Penn Foster. A mother of three, she spends her free time hanging out with her children. She has two dogs name Snowy and Shadow, and two fish named Ying and Yang.

Calli, Veterinary Assistant


Calli attended college at Indiana University. While working toward her Bachelor's degree, she adopted her first dog, Walter, and discovered a passion for animals. Because of Walter (and wanting to give him the best), Calli started learning everything she could about dogs. After graduating & returning to Chicago, she continued this journey by working both at a dog daycare facility & later at an animal nutrition clinic.

As a Chicago native, Calli loves to root on Chicago's professional sports teams (Go Blackhawks)! She also enjoys traveling, spending time with friends/family, and arts and crafts.

Gina, Veterinary Assistant


Gina came to South Loop to finish her externship hours during her vet assistant certification process and decided she liked the place so much she would stick around! She has been an animal lover since childhood, and currently has three cats (one of whom is a Team SLAH rescue!) named Slim, Marilyn, and Tootse. Gina has a Bachelor's degree in Art from DePaul University and enjoys painting and drawing in her spare time.

Jen, Veterinary Assistant


Jennifer has been working in veterinary health for the past 3 years. She is originally from Chicago, and attended North Park University where she received a degree in Biological Science. She is pursuing a Graduate Degree in Ecological Teaching and Learning with Lesley University. Jen shares her home with three dogs, two turtles, two geckos, and two frogs.

Lindsey, Customer Service Manager


Lindsey moved to Chicago from Michigan eight years ago. She grew up with animals and has been working in pet care for the last six years. Lindsey enjoys viewing and experiencing all types of art. In her free time, she loves to sew, bike, and travel.

Allison A., Receptionist

Allison A.

Allison comes to South Loop all the way from Texas! Even though she grew up where the stars are bright, she calls Chicago her second home. A student at DePaul, Allison studies Psychology and after graduation hopes to go back to school and move on to a career in the Veterinary field. In her free time she likes to explore bike trails around the city, practice music, and enjoy times with friends.

Charlie, Receptionist


Charlie is originally from the South, but relocated to Chicago to pursue his degree at Columbia College. When he isn’t working at our front desk, he is an active member of the Chicago theater scene as a writer/director/behind the scenes guru.

Janine, Receptionist


Janine was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. She has previous experience working on the human side of medicine, and is excited to be working with furry clients. Janine is a mother of three, and when she isn’t working or being a mom to Angelo, Sophie, and Joel, she coaches 4th-8th grade Volleyball at Walsh Elementary. She enjoys reading mystery novels and hanging out with her fur baby, Luna the grey tabby cat.
