Magda, Veterinary Assistant
Magda was born in Bogota, Colombia. Following her mother’s footsteps, she started her career in the horse industry at a very young age. She is a professional rider with expertise in Paso Fino and Hunter/Jumper disciplines. She moved to the USA to study Equine Science Studies and to help advance her family’s horse racing business. She has been in the veterinary industry for several years working with small and large animals since 1994.
Magda lives with her husband, their Chocolate Labrador, “Cadbury,” and 2 fish. She enjoys outdoor activities including hiking, mountain climbing, traveling, and is and avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Magda is bilingual, fluent in both Spanish and English.
Bastian, Veterinary Assistant
Bastian hails from Salt Lake City, Utah, where she received a fine arts degree in 2003. She dabbled in professional dance and non-profit work before embracing her great passion for veterinary work. Bastian has been working as a vet tech in Chicago for two years, where she is completing her studies required for admission to veterinary school. She lives in Pilsen with her partner, their Dachshund Lily, and their grumpy cat, Babe.
Kristian, Veterinary Assistant
Kris is originally from the Southside of Chicago. He has had extensive experience in the veterinary field having worked in several veterinary clinics in Chicago. Kris splits his time working at PAWS Chicago Lurie spay/neuter clinic and South Loop Animal Hospital. In his free time Kris likes to spend time cavorting with his dogs, Tuco and Rogue. He is an avid reader and a huge Star Wars fan.
Ed, Veterinary Assistant
Originally from suburban Milwaukee, Ed graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a business degree and moved to Chicago in 2002. In the years since moving to Chicago, he adopted pets and discovered a passion for the animal health sciences. Ed left the commercial real estate industry to enroll at the University of Illinois - Chicago in 2009 to complete the required courses for admission to veterinary school. Ed currently lives in Roscoe Village with his fiancée, Andrea. They will occasionally refer to their home as The Zoo - featuring Porkchop the dog, Boots and Tiles the cats, and two freshwater aquariums (the fish remain unnamed).
Carrie, Head Receptionist
Carries has a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Missouri. She has over 10 years of experience working with animals in various capacities, including nearly five years spent working at one of the largest animal shelters in the country.
Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, she currently lives in Lakeview with her husband, Steve, and two mixed breed dogs (Emmit and Tucker). In her spare time, Carrie enjoys reading, watching movies, and exploring Chicago.
Allison, Receptionist
Allison is a graduate of Northwestern University with a degree in English and Theater. A life long animal lover, Allison is thrilled to be working with dogs and cats while she pursues a career in acting. Allison grew up with Labrador Retrievers and dreams of one day filling her tiny Chicago apartment with several Great Danes.
